Security and Privacy
Peniwallet is designed with user privacy and security in mind. As a non-custodial wallet, it ensures that:
Users have complete control of their private keys: Peniwallet cannot access or retrieve private keys, passwords, or recovery phrases. Private keys and sensitive data are stored locally on your device.
No sensitive information is stored on Peniwallet servers: The wallet is decentralized, meaning all transaction data and wallet-related information stay on the blockchain, not on centralized servers.
End-to-End Encryption: Peniwallet employs end to end to protect communication between your wallet and our APIs, ensuring all transactions remain secure and tamper-proof.
Best Practices to Secure Your Wallet
As a Peniwallet user, you have a responsibility to protect your assets. By following these best practices, you can significantly enhance the security of your wallet:
Secure Your Seed Phrase: Never save your seed phrase in digital formats such as notepad, email, or cloud storage. Write it down on a piece of paper and store it offline in a safe and secure location, such as a locked drawer or safe.
Create a Strong Passcode: Use a passcode with a combination of numbers and symbols that are difficult to guess. Avoid using easily recognizable patterns like birthdays or sequential numbers.
Keep Your App Updated: Regularly update Peniwallet to ensure you have the latest security patches and features. Outdated apps may have vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit.
Avoid Public Wi-Fi: Refrain from using public Wi-Fi networks when accessing your wallet or conducting crypto transactions. These networks are often unsecured, making it easier for hackers to intercept your data.
If you must use public Wi-Fi, connect through a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to add encryption and protect your activities.
Never Take Screenshots of Your Seed Phrase: Avoid storing your seed phrase digitally, such as in your phone’s gallery or cloud storage. These areas are vulnerable to malware or hacking attempts. Keep your seed phrase offline and private at all times.
Do Not Back Up Your Seed Phrase to the Cloud: Cloud storage services can be compromised, exposing your sensitive data. Never back up your seed phrase to services like Google Drive, iCloud, or Dropbox.
Be Cautious of Phishing Scams: Always double-check the authenticity of links, emails, or messages claiming to be from Peniwallet or other crypto platforms. Hackers often use phishing tactics to steal sensitive information.
Limit Sharing Information About Your Wallet: Avoid discussing your wallet details or holdings publicly, including on social media or forums. The less information you reveal, the less likely you are to become a target for scammers.
By adhering to these practices, you can keep your digital assets safe and enjoy a more secure cryptocurrency experience.
